Descrição:Cinaciguat is a pharmacological agent that activates guanylate cyclase. It has been shown to increase the level of intracellular cGMP, a second messenger that is involved in the regulation of diverse physiological processes, including blood pressure and heart rate. Cinaciguat has been shown to be effective for treatment of pulmonary hypertension and severe chronic heart failure. Cinaciguat may be an experimental biomarker for these conditions and other diseases with similar symptoms. The mechanism of action of cinaciguat is not fully understood, but it can be speculated that it inhibits the enzyme adenylyl cyclase by binding to its regulatory site on the beta-subunit of the enzyme.
