5-Amino isophthalic methylester (5-AIMe) is a synthetic compound that binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of a number of cancer cell lines, including leukemia, lymphoma, and breast cancer. 5-AIMe inhibits tumor growth by interfering with the signaling pathway that leads to cell division. 5-AIMe also has fatty acid properties that make it an effective skin moisturizer. This compound can be used in clickable assays and conjugates for monoclonal antibodies. 5-AIMe binds to the EGFR receptor, which is found on the surface of many types of cells. The binding process initiates a signal transduction cascade that triggers various cellular responses in target cells, such as inhibition of protein synthesis or induction of apoptosis.
