Descrição:5-Aminofluorescein is a fluorescence probe that is used to detect the presence of reactive groups on basic fibroblast cells. 5-Aminofluorescein reacts with an ionotropic gelation agent and forms a fluorescent gel when it contacts cells. The fluorescent gel penetrates the cell membrane and binds to enzymes, which will cause the release of cellular energy in the form of heat. This energy can be measured by calorimetry or by measuring the change in fluorescence. 5-Aminofluorescein has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against malignant brain tumor cells, which may be due to its ability to penetrate into these cells and bind to DNA. It also has antimicrobial properties and can be used as a titration indicator for certain drugs, such as antibiotics.
