The synthesis of 3-acetoxybenzofuran can be achieved through the use of a variety of reagents, including sodium methoxide and dimethyl or methoxymethane. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and has been found to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in rats.
