- 3-Fluoropyridin-4-amine
4-Amino-3-fluoropyridine (4AFP) is an analog of the nucleophilic guanidine compound, which has been shown to be effective in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The uptake and pharmacokinetic properties of 4AFP were studied in humans and found to be similar to those of the parent compound, 3-amino-2,6-difluoropyridine. 4AFP was also found to be effective in a clinical trial for chronic progressive multiple sclerosis. The demyelinating effects of 4AFP are due to its ability to inhibit myelin basic protein synthesis.
