2-Aminonicotinic acid is a molecule that contains an amine group, a carboxylic acid group, and a nitro group. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form the copper complex 2-amino-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)nicotinamide. This compound is also known as 3-aminoisonicotinic acid. The reaction of 2-aminonicotinic acid with hydrogen fluoride produces the nitro derivative of this molecule: 2-amino-N-(4-nitrophenyl)nicotinamide. It can be synthesized by reacting picolinic acid with an alkylsulfonyl chloride in the presence of 3-aminopyridine or 3-aminobenzotrifluoride.
2 - Aminonicotinic acid has been shown to inhibit chronic bronchitis in laboratory animals and may have potential for use in the treatment of infectious diseases such as malaria, leish
