1-Amino-3-phenoxypropan-2-ol is an organic compound that contains a hydroxyl group, an alcohol group, and a valency of two. It is used in the treatment of coronary heart diseases. This drug has been shown to reduce the levels of organic acids, such as lactic acid and acetoacetic acid, in the blood. It also reduces the level of aldehydes and valency in heart disease patients. 1-Amino-3-phenoxypropan-2-ol may be converted to 1,1'-dihydroxyethane (vinyl alcohol) by reaction with water molecule. The vinyl alcohol may further react with quaternary ammonium salts or other compounds to form condensation products that are excreted from body through urine.
