2-Amino-N-butylbenzamide is a chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) and blocks the conversion of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) to cyclic adenosine diphosphate (cADP). This drug is used in the treatment of asthma. When cAMP levels are increased, it leads to bronchial relaxation, which decreases airway resistance. 2-Amino-N-butylbenzamide has been shown to inhibit cell functions by binding to the cyclic adenosine monophosphate receptor and blocking the synthesis of messenger RNA. The quinazolinone moiety in this molecule is responsible for its inhibition activity.
