5-Amino-1-pentanol is a nucleophilic agent that is used in chemical reactions such as hydroxylation, alkylation, and substitution. It reacts with electrophilic sites on the substrate molecule to form products through nucleophilic substitutions. 5-Amino-1-pentanol has been shown to be effective for the treatment of cancer tissue by inhibiting protein synthesis and inducing apoptosis. It also has a high water solubility and can be administered orally, intravenously, or topically. The rate of formation of 5-amino-1-pentanol from amino acid precursors is dependent on the amine group concentration, pH, temperature, and presence or absence of an amide bond.
