1-Acetyl-5-bromoindolin-3-one is a chemical compound with a hydroxy group, which makes it more stable than many other similar compounds. It can be used in sample preparation, such as the removal of interfering organic components from water samples. This compound reacts with boron nitride to give boronic acid and 1,2,4-triazole. The reaction mechanism is thought to involve nucleophilic attack at the 1 position followed by elimination of the 5-acetyl group and ring closure at the 3 position. 1-Acetyl-5-bromoindolin-3-one has been shown to react with zirconium oxide and fatty acids to form viscosity, morphology, and hydroxyl groups.
