2-4-Aminophenyl-2-methylpropanenitrile (APMP) is an industrial chemical that is used in the manufacture of dyes and pigments. It is also used as a postprocessing agent for ruthenium. APMP has been shown to form a complex with hydrochloric acid and transition metals, such as Ru(II) and Rh(III), which activates the C-H bond. This activation reaction yields a hydride, which can be used as a catalyst in organic reactions. The reaction yield and catalytic properties of APMP are dependent on the reaction condition, such as temperature and concentration of reactants.
