It has an acidic profile and a nucleophilic carboxylate group that can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules. 2-(Acetylamino)-5-nitrobenzoic acid will react with electrophilic nitro groups in the presence of buffers to produce a stable molecule, which is a buffer itself.
