2-(2-Aminoethyl)isothioureadihydrobromide is a reactive chemical that has been shown to have antiviral activity. It has been found to be effective in the treatment of hepatitis B and C, as well as baculovirus infections. 2-(2-Aminoethyl)isothioureadihydrobromide is used in conjunction with monoclonal antibodies, which bind to the virus and aid in its destruction. 2-(2-Aminoethyl)isothioureadihydrobromide binds to the virus by reacting with one of its functional groups, such as an amino group or hydroxyl group. This binding prevents the virus from entering cells and infecting them. The compound also has a depressant effect on nonsecretor animals.
