2-Amino-4-dimethylamino-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazine is a glycol ester that is used as a solid catalyst in organic synthesis. This compound has been shown to inhibit xanthine oxidase and to be an inhibitor of the hyperproliferative cells. 2-Amino-4-dimethylamino-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazine inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide by activating catalase and glutathione peroxidase. It also has antihyperglycemic activity and can reduce blood sugar levels in diabetic animals. This drug also inhibits DNA synthesis in cancer cells.
