• Descrição: The preparation of (S)-(-)-2-Amino-3-methyl-1,1-diphenyl-1-butanol Hydrochloride (CDMPH) is a two step process. The first step involves the synthesis of the methyl ester from valine. This is done by reacting valine with phenylmagnesium bromide in ethanol followed by hydrolysis of the resulting ester with hydrochloric acid. The second step involves the preparation of the hydrochloride salt from the methyl ester. This is done by adding hydrogen chloride to a solution of CDMPH in ethanol and recrystallizing the product from water.
