Descrição:2-Allyl-4-chlorophenol is a synthetic antioxidant that scavenges reactive oxygen species. It is also considered to be an environmental pollutant and has been shown to inhibit the production of 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol, which is a metabolite of the natural antioxidant α-tocopherol. 2-Allyl-4-chlorophenol reacts with water molecules and transfers electrons to hydrogen peroxide, which may lead to the formation of hypochlorous acid. 2-Allyl-4-chlorophenol has inhibitory properties against oxidative stress, particularly in submandibular gland cells. This inhibition may be due to its redox potential, which is higher than that of other antioxidants such as α-tocopherol or eugenol.
