2-(1-Anthraquinonylamino)-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine is a cationic polymer that has been shown to react with infrared radiation. It has also been shown to be highly soluble in water and an excellent solvent for many organic materials. This polymer can be used as a reactive agent or a quaternary ammonium salt because of its ability to form polymers or macromolecules. The polymerization reaction of 2-(1-anthraquinonylamino)-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine is dependent on the presence of cations such as ammonium ions. This compound also has the ability to absorb ultraviolet light and convert it into visible light.
