2-Amino-N-hydroxyacetamide is an hydroxamate which is a group P2 compound. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease. 2-Amino-N-hydroxyacetamide is a stable complex with glycine and monosodium salt and may be a natural body product. This compound is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other drugs, including hydroxamic acids. 2-Amino-N-hydroxyacetamide inhibits acetylcholinesterase, which leads to increased levels of acetylcholine in the synapse, making it useful for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease.
