(alphaS)-alpha-Amino-3-hydroxytricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]decane-1-aceticacid is an amino acid that is synthesized by the chemical synthesis of saxagliptin, a potent and selective dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitor. It is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and has been shown to be effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. (alphaS)-alpha-Amino-3-hydroxytricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]decane-1-aceticacid binds to chiral centers on enzymes such as chiral catalysts or chiral reagents and induces a change in their activity or stereoselectivity.
