3-(2-(2-(2-Aminoethoxy)ethoxy)ethoxy)propanoic acid is a fluorescent analog that interacts reversibly with mammalian cells. This compound binds to the cell membrane and interferes with the signal transduction pathway of G protein-coupled receptors by binding to the intracellular domain of these receptors. 3-(2-(2-(2-Aminoethoxy)ethoxy)ethoxy)propanoic acid can be used to measure receptor activity in living cells, including its ability to differentiate between different types of receptors. This compound can also be used as a probe for light exposure, and has been shown to interact with DNA and RNA synthesis. 3-(2-(2-(2-Aminoethoxy)ethoxy)ethoxy)propanoic acid binds to a number of proteins in the plasma membrane, which is indicated by fluorescence emission at 460 nm.
