Descrição

Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic that blocks sodium channels in the distal tubule, leading to decreased reabsorption of sodium and increased secretion of potassium. It also inhibits the action of aldosterone at the distal renal tubules, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Amiloride interacts with pancreatic lipase, which may lead to an increased risk for pancreatitis. Amiloride has been shown to be clinically effective in the treatment of patients with hypertension and congestive heart failure.
