2-Amino-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole is a potent inducer of human cytochrome P450 enzymes. It has been shown to be genotoxic and carcinogenic in animal models. 2-Amino-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole binds to DNA duplexes, forming covalent adducts with guanine bases. The enzyme responsible for the metabolism of this compound is glucuronide conjugate. This drug's pharmacokinetic properties are dependent on its reactive nature and the concentration-time curve that it produces.
