4-Amino-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid (4AFB) is a benzoate derivative that has been isolated from an ethanol extract of the bark of the South American tree Dictyoloma incanescens. The structure analysis and x-ray structures of 4AFB show that this compound is a monoanion with a geometry that resembles that of benzoic acid. 4AFB was shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro.
