2-Methylaniline is an antibacterial that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their cell walls and inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins. This drug binds to the amines in the bacterial cell wall, preventing it from linking together with the amino acids that are necessary for synthesis. 2-Methylaniline has been shown to be effective against bacteria strains such as E. coli and S. typhimurium, but is not active against P. vulgaris or C. difficile, which are Gram-positive bacteria. The molecular docking analysis revealed that this drug can inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their cell walls and inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins.
