N-Acetyl-D-leucine is a peptide that belongs to the group of amides. N-Acetyl-D-leucine is an enantiomer that can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections. This peptide may be effective in the treatment of stenotrophomonas maltophilia, which is a bacterium that can cause pneumonia in immunocompromised patients. N-Acetyl-D-leucine has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth and increase uptake in these bacteria. The formation rate of this peptide has also been shown to be increased by amines and other compounds, such as L-histidine and L-tryptophan.
