2-Amino-1-naphthol hydrochloride is a chemical compound that is used in the treatment of bladder cancer. It is a cleavage product of 1-naphthol and 2-aminoanthracene, which are aromatic hydrocarbons found in wastewater and industrial effluents. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bladder cancer cells in animals by acting as an alkylating agent. 2-Amino-1-naphthol hydrochloride also has antiinflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
