6-Amino-1-naphthol is a liquid chromatography reagent that can be used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of salicylic acid, nitrobenzene, naphthylamine, and naphthol. It consists of a mixture of 6-amino-1-naphthol and methylbenzene. The mixture reacts with tyrosinase to form a red product. This reaction is synergistic with salicylic acid, nitrobenzene, naphthylamine, or naphthol. The mechanism of activation is not yet fully understood.
