Aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate is a salt that contains aluminum and potassium. It has disease activity against fungal and bacterial infections in the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. The synergistic effect of aluminum sulfate with benzalkonium chloride or iron is used for the treatment of diseases such as bronchitis, cystitis, prostatitis, pyelonephritis, and periodontal disease. Aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate is also used to regulate the water vapor content in air-conditioning systems. In addition to its use as an antiperspirant agent, it can be found in some toothpastes as a mouthwash additive. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to bind toll-like receptors on macrophages.
