Acetyl-alpha,beta-dehydro-phenylalanine is a stereoselective, palladium complexed compound that has been shown to have a biological function in corynebacterium. The enzyme aminotransferase activity has been shown to be inhibited by acetyl-alpha,beta-dehydro-phenylalanine. This inhibition is selective for the wild type strain and not the chelate ring mutant of corynebacterium. Acetyl-alpha,beta-dehydro-phenylalanine binds to the transfer reactions of phenylpyruvic acid with anhydrous sodium and hydrochloric acid as well as being capable of undergoing metathesis reactions with linear models.
