It is a redox potential with a pK of 7.8 and can be protonated at the phenolic hydroxyl group. 2-Amino-4-methoxybenzoic acid has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activities of histone proteins, which are enzymes that catalyze the formation of DNA from RNA.
