2-Amino-3-formylchromone is a natural compound that has been shown to bind to the nucleic acid pBR322 DNA and inhibit its synthesis. This compound has also been shown to have an analog that binds with amines and is active as a methylene acceptor. The reaction products of 2-amino-3-formylchromone are crystalline, which can be used for structural analysis. This compound also reacts with active oxygen during oxidation and produces carcinogenic compounds. 2-Amino-3-formylchromone can be used in the treatment of leukemia cells or other cancer cells that do not respond to other drugs.
