Ammonium tetrachloropalladate(II) is an inorganic compound and a catalyst. It is usually obtained as a pale yellow solid and can be used in the palladium-catalyzed coupling of organic molecules. Ammonium tetrachloropalladate(II) has been shown to have genotoxic effects, which may be due to its ability to catalyze the oxidation reaction of organic compounds. This chemical has also been shown to react with sodium citrate, forming ammonium citrate and hydrogen gas. The reaction mechanism for this process is not yet known. Ammonium tetrachloropalladate(II) can also be synthesized by reacting palladium chloride with zirconium oxide in a solution of nitric acid or hydrochloric acid.
