(-)-(1R,3S)-3-Aminocyclopentane carboxylic acid is a cyclic peptide that has been shown to have a number of reactive sites, making it an excellent substrate for analysis. It is hydrophobic and has the potential to form nanotubes. This compound has been shown to bind amino acids and analogues that are chiral. The active site can be found in the cavity of the amidinomycin molecule, which binds to the deamination product of (-)-(1R,3S)-3-aminocyclopentane carboxylic acid.
