2-Amino-2-(2-chlorophenyl)acetic acid is a reactive compound that is found in the human body. It is involved in many metabolic pathways, including fatty acid synthesis and urea cycle. The enzyme creatine kinase catalyzes the reaction of 2-amino-2-(2-chlorophenyl)acetic acid with phosphate to form creatine phosphate. 2-Amino-2-(2-chlorophenyl)acetic acid is also used as a substrate for ester hydrolysis by lipases, which are essential for the digestion of lipids. This compound has been shown to be used as an alternate substrate for reactions that require a nucleophile, such as the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine from phosphatidylethanolamine and choline.
