Descrição:1-Adamantyl isothiocyanate (1AITC) is a chemical compound that contains the functional group of isothiocyanates. It has potent antibacterial activity against many bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and is also active against influenza in animal models. 1AITC binds to amines and forms hydrogen bonds with the enzyme cholinesterase, which leads to inhibition of enzyme activity. This inhibition prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine and other neurotransmitters, which may lead to an increase in acetylcholine levels in the brain and subsequent improvement of memory. 1AITC has also been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo through cytotoxic effects and induction of apoptosis.
