2-Acetoxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid is a molecule that contains the functional group of an acetylsalicylic acid. It is also known as 2-acetoxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid and is a centrosymmetric, directional, carboxylate molecule with a salicylic skeleton. This molecule has two acetylsalicylic groups and one methoxybenzoic acid group. The acetylsalicylic groups are in the same orientation, while the methoxybenzoic acid group is in an opposite orientation. 2-Acetoxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid has been shown to form supramolecular complexes with aspirin or synthons of aspirin. These interactions are predictable due to its carboxylic group and salicylic skeleton.
