Allyl chloro(difluoro)acetate (AchDA) is a fluorinated ester that is synthesized by the reaction of allyl alcohol and chlorodifluoroacetic acid. AchDA has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the biosynthesis of pentenoic acid in Littoralis, which is a bioactive molecule that exhibits anti-inflammatory activity. AchDA also inhibits the production of pentenoic acid in synthetic systems, including the use of catalytic amounts of copper. The yields are typically high and AchDA does not require expensive reagents or solvents for its synthesis, making it an attractive alternative to other methods for producing this compound.
