2-Amino-3-(2-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-Phenyl)-Propionic Acid is an amino acid that is used as a fluorinating agent in organic synthesis. It is also used to study the interaction of proteins, and has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis. 2-Amino-3-(2-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-Phenyl)-Propionic Acid is synthesized through the enzymatic oxidation of choline by tyrosinase. This amino acid has acidic properties, which causes it to undergo a zwitterion reaction with a positively charged molecule. It can be taken up by cells through an amino acid transport system and this uptake can be increased by light irradiation. 2-Amino-3-(2-Fluoro -4 Hydroxy Phenyl) Propionic Acid has been shown to have physiological effects on the skin, such as inhibiting tyrosinase activity and reducing UV
