(2S)-2-Amino-2-[(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)methyl]-3-fluoropropanoic acid is an irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme L-amino acid decarboxylase. It binds to the active site of the enzyme and inhibits its activity by preventing the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-dopa. This inhibition leads to decreased production of dopamine, which is important in the regulation of movement and emotional responses. (2S)-2-Amino-2-[(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)methyl]-3-fluoropropanoic acid is a reversible inhibitor that can be metabolized by hydrolysis or oxidation.
