N-[4-Acetyl-2-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)phenyl]-methanesulfonamide (NAPM) is a chiral, analgesic that has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity. NAPM binds to the COX enzyme and inhibits the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandin E2. This drug also has optical properties and can be used as a reference compound for optical accesses. NAPM is synthesized by reductive amination using acetylacetone and 2,4-difluorobenzaldehyde. The synthesis of this compound was first reported in 1990.
