(1R,5R,6R)-2-Amino-4-fluorobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is a synthetic compound that is used in the study of the brain and nervous system. It is a noncompetitive inhibitor of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 2/3 (mGlu2/3) that blocks glutamate mediated excitatory neurotransmission by binding to postsynaptic mGlu2/3 receptors and preventing glutamate from activating them. This drug has been shown to have antipsychotic effects, which are thought to be related to its ability to inhibit dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens. In addition, this drug has been shown to act as an antagonist at the 5HT1A serotonin receptor in rat cortical slices and as a partial agonist at 5HT2A serotonin receptor in rat prefrontal cortex slices.
