Phenylthiohydantoin-isoleucine is a molecule that is present in the body as an endogenously synthesized amino acid. It is composed of the amino acid phenylthiohydantoin and alloisoleucine. It can be detected by chromatographic analysis, UV absorption spectrometry, and polyclonal antibodies. Phenylthiohydantoin-isoleucine has a molecular weight of 266.2g/mol and a constant of 2.5E+5g/mol. It has a tryptic sequence with two isomers, A-PTHI and P-PTHI. This molecule has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties through its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes for example COX-1 and COX-2. Phenylthiohydantoin-isoleucine also exhibits antioxidant activity due to its ability to inhibit lipid perox
