Melitracen is a new drug that has been developed to treat inflammatory bowel disease. It belongs to the class of tricyclic antidepressant drugs and has a strong affinity for the cb2 receptor. Melitracen is effective in treating bowel diseases by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as toll-like receptor 4, and mediating anti-inflammatory effects. Melitracen has also been found to be an effective treatment for infectious diseases and solid tumours. The drug can be administered orally or injected and it is metabolised in the liver.
