Descrição:
Dimethyl Azobenzene-4,4'-dicarboxylate is a compound with aromatic properties. It is a derivative of benzoin and can be synthesized from nitrobenzaldehyde and cyanoformaldehyde. The compound is an electron donating reagent that reacts with ketones to form aromatic aldehydes. Dimethyl Azobenzene-4,4'-dicarboxylate has been shown to react with the hydroxyl group of nitrobenzaldehyde to form a dimethyl nitrobenzene intermediate. This reaction is catalyzed by copper. The reaction can be summarized as follows:
