• Descrição: Aminoguanidine is a drug that inhibits the activity of the enzyme guanidinoacetate methyltransferase (GAMT). It is used to treat some types of cancer, such as bladder cancer. Aminoguanidine has been shown to inhibit tumour growth and induce apoptosis in animal models. It has also been reported to be effective in a number of other cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer. Aminoguanidine binds with high affinity to protein targets, including x-ray crystallography, magnetic resonance imaging and devices. The binding site on the ligand is highly conserved among different proteins, which may explain the broad spectrum of its activity. Aminoguanidine is dose-dependent and can be administered either stepwise or as one large dose.
