1-Dimethylaminomethyl-2-naphthol (DMN) is a hydroxylated naphthalene derivative that has been shown to be an anticancer drug. DMN inhibits the activity of proteins in cancer cells, such as splicing and intramolecular hydrogen transfer. It also inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids, which are required for tumor cell growth. DMN has been used in clinical trials on infants with significant interactions with other drugs and has been studied as a potential anticancer agent against breast and lung cancers.
