Informação sobre produto
Ethyl 2-bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)acetate is a chiral compound and can exist in two enantiomers, with the (S)-enantiomer being more active. The molecular modelling studies show that the (S)-enantiomer has a lower energy barrier and is more stable than the (R)-enantiomer. The synthesis of this compound involves an acylation reaction between ethyl bromoacetate and 4-chlorobenzeneacetic acid, which produces an intermediate that undergoes a ring closure to form ethyl 2-bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)acetate. This compound is used as a precursor to penicillin. The separation of enantiomers can be achieved by chromatography or other techniques such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, or crystallization.
