4-(4,5-Diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzoic Acid is a molecule that inhibits viral replication. It binds to the virus and prevents the virus from entering cells. This drug is being developed as an antiviral agent for use in the treatment of HIV and influenza. 4-(4,5-Diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzoic Acid has been shown to bind to HIV's protease enzyme and prevent its cleavage of other proteins in the body. This drug also interacts with influenza's hemagglutinin protein by stabilizing it, preventing it from binding to sialic acid receptors on host cells and inhibiting viral replication.
