Ethyl tosylcarbamate is a reactive chemical used in coatings and as an antibacterial agent. It reacts with nitrocellulose at high temperatures to form a coating. Ethyl tosylcarbamate can react with carboxylic acids at room temperature to form carboxylate salts, which are widely used as additives in paints, paper products, and other coatings. In addition, ethyl tosylcarbamate has been shown to have antibacterial properties. It reacts with the carboxylate group of proteins in bacteria, forming an inactive reaction product.
