Bicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-5-one is a naturally occurring heterocyclic compound with a bicyclic structure, consisting of a six-membered ring with two additional carbon atoms in the form of an additional ring fused to the first ring. The compound has been used as a synthetic intermediate and has been studied for its capability to inhibit protein synthesis by interrupting peptide bonds during the formation of proteins. Bicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-5-one has also been studied as a possible drug candidate for the treatment of cancer and HIV infection, due to its ability to bind to DNA and RNA and inhibit their synthesis. Bicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-5-one can be synthesized from cyclopropanes, which are obtained by homologation of allyl alcohols or by hydroboration followed by oxidation of alkenes or alkynes.br>
